DWF announces new managing partner in Newcastle

30 April 2024
DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has announced real estate partner Lee Pickett as the new managing partner of its Newcastle office.

Lee studied law in Newcastle and joined DWF's Newcastle office as a senior associate in 2013. Three years later he was promoted to partner.

With over 25 years of experience, Lee's work focuses on large development and regeneration projects with particular emphasis on mixed use and housing regeneration. He advises local authorities and other public bodies on a range of regeneration projects including public-private partnerships and grant funding matters. Recent projects in the North East include advising South Tyneside Council on their Holborn Riverside scheme;  Gateshead Council on the redevelopment of Clasper Village and Northumbria Police on their operational real estate portfolio.

Alongside his new role as managing partner, Lee also co-leads the UK National Public Sector Real Estate Team and formerly headed the Affordable Housing Team. He has been a Legal 500 recommended lawyer since 2017, recognised as a 'next generation partner' and ranked in Chambers for his work in real estate and social housing.

Lee takes over the role from Adam Heather who was managing partner for five years.

Commenting on his appointment, Lee said: "I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead the team in Newcastle which is comprised of fantastic people excelling in real estate, healthcare, insurance, employment and corporate advice. Our commitment to ESG, diversity and inclusion and making a positive impact in local communities runs deep, and I am eager to build on DWF's strong culture, values, and business practices."

Hilary Ross, UK & Ireland regional managing partner at DWF, said: "We're delighted to introduce Lee as the new managing partner of our Newcastle office. With a track record of exemplary leadership, Lee is exceptionally well-suited to steer our excellent team in Newcastle and further advance our accomplishments in the region. Additionally, we extend our appreciation to Adam Heather for his significant contributions to Newcastle over the past five years."
