06 May 2021
DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has appointed Jonathan Drake, former Head of Insurance at Womble Bond Dickinson, as a Partner to head up DWF's rapidly expanding non-contentious insurance advisory practice.

Jonathan Drake joins DWF's London office, having worked in the City for over 30 years in both private practice, including stints at Clyde & Co, Dentons and Ashurst, and as in-house General Counsel for over 10 years within the insurance industry.

Jonathan brings a wealth of experience to DWF's insurance practice and clients, being recognised for his expertise in all aspects of non-contentious insurance and reinsurance law, regulation and product development.

Jonathan's expertise covers PRA, FCA and Lloyd's regulatory matters, insurance and reinsurance policy wordings, run off and restructuring, cross-border and international advice, distribution, terms of business and other commercial agreements, captive insurance/risk management arrangements, compliance and conduct risk.  Jonathan has also acted on a number of high profile insurance market transactions and has advised on the run off of various insurance companies.

Claire Bowler, Global Insurance Sector Head, commented, "Jonathan is a well-known senior figure in the insurance industry and we are delighted that he is joining DWF to further widen the non-contentious offering for our insurance clients. He will help drive the growth of our work with insurance General Counsel and Risk and Compliance teams, along with advising insurance Boards on key areas for their business."

Jonathan Drake also commented, "It is an exciting time to join DWF - they have a genuine strength and depth in both insurance and commercial services work, together with various different and innovative delivery models through their Connected Services and Mindcrest divisions, which can all add value to clients. With my background and experience across non-contentious insurance and reinsurance work, I am looking forward to working as part of DWF's wider Financial Services Regulatory offerings and multi-disciplinary teams, including Regulatory Consulting, helping clients navigate the many issues affecting their business across the insurance and reinsurance sector."
